2019 Review: September 1 - September 8

It's the second week of September already!

This week has had a whole host of successes and new discoveries that were either made or announced during these seven days. So strap and let's go through the major ones.

Starting off this week, it seems like people going to Mars is becoming more imminent by the day. Scientists from the Rhode Island School of design, in particular Micheal Lye, created a spacesuit similar to the one that will be worn by the first humans when they got to Mars. This took this a step further and actually tested in, inside a volcano in Iceland. This spacesuit is vastly lighter than its predecessor, while still about to withstand the potential deadly conditions of the red planet's volcano. During the testing the group endured multiple weather scenarios and some technical failures but overall the mission was deemed successful. We are excited to see what the future holds in this regard.

Once again, Elon Musk made the news or shall we say his SpaceX company. SpaceX have been working hard on their Starlink system, having already launched 60 satellites on a Falcon 9 rocket back towards the end of May. This week, they asked permission from the government to launch more satillites at different altitudes to increased the speed and efficiency of launches. SpaceX's aim is to bring coverage to the Southern US before next year's hurricane season. The US Federal Communications Comission is yet to respond.

India has managed to relocate its Spacecraft lander after losing contact with it earlier in the week. This developments come after an attempted to land a probe on the Moon's southern pole failed. The descend was progressing perfecting right until the last 1.5miles, when contact was lost. While the landing was a failure, at least they managed to regain contact with their spacecraft, and India's determination to be the 4th country in the world to have landed a spacecraft on the moon has only increased.
